I live in the golden hills of Northern California with family and my 14-year-old cat, Sagwa. Most of the paintings you see on my website were made with him in my lap. He doesn’t mind the smell of paint or being jostled every so often, nor does he complain about a dropped paintbrush (although he’d certainly be in the right). The most important thing to him is to be cuddled up with the one who feeds him. Making art comes more naturally to me than anything else in life and these are the moments I like to capture — when our pets show us what’s going on behind those beautiful/skeptical/sleepy/excited eyes.
Much of my inspiration comes from my dabbling in fiber arts such as quilting, knitting, crochet, and embroidery. My personal taste for the surreal invokes our animals’ instinctual nature, melding into something grounded and a little magical. Fur beneath a hand, the rise and fall of a chest, the happy swish of a tail. All the good things go in!
Original paintings and prints from my portfolio are available for purchase. Thanks for your visit.
